STEREO AT COLOPHON2009 FESTIVAL 05.03.09

STEREO has been invited to be part of the COLOPHON 2009 festival, 13-14-15 march in Luxembourg. With 99 other magazines we're highlited as an independend publication the public should know. Also we'll be handing out Stereo magazines at the festival store for free to all the magazine-lovers attending the festival. If you love (independent) magazines, this is the place to be! Check out their site. Hope to see you there.

NO MORE STEREO 03.03.08

After publishing 5 editions of the Stereo publication, and organising numerous activities around them, we have decided to officially stop the project. The core group would like to thank all the participants and readers of the Stereo publication. This project has been truly inspirational, to me, and I hope it has inspired others too... Ultra special thanx to Joris, Christel, Ingrid, Dunya, Taco and Panc.

- Arjen

STEREO SPILLAGE 24.08.07

THE LAST MAGAZINE 25.04.07

Stereo is featured in this book called 'The Last Magazine'. Print works in mysterious ways; I had not heard anything of these guy's but now Stereo-editor Taco ran into it in NYC! Naturally we endorse anything that has to do with independent magazine culture. In other words: go buy it. Print is not dead.

Expo at Odessa 26.05.06

Access expo at Odessa, Leiden. When in the neighbourhood for the Rembrandt madness or the pittoresque canals, have a beer here to woof down the art cos’ its also a bar. Not a Stereo exhibition but one that features brandnew works by our favourite Stereo participants Dutch Dolls and Ingrid de Lugt (who also did the flyer). Also works by D-Struct and Witte Wartena. On display until august (Odessa, Hogewoerd 18, Leiden).

Stereo #4 remote control 02.03.06

Stereo #4 is out early march, if all goes well the first copies can be attained fresh and ink still hot during the museumnacht event 4th of march at Rotterdam. From that date on we will work hard to spread #4 all over the world. Stereo also presents mr Sauli’s great interactive installation ‘dance little sister’, so come on over wannabe rockstars and create your hangovers at Sim Central.

Stereo #4 features art by the german Red Dot designprize winners buro Magma Ka, photography by London based Columbian D. Mora, critical essays by Sabine Niederer and Richard Rogers of Network Cultures Amsterdam. So a lot of new collaborators next to some Stereo teamsters like Taco den Outer, Ingrid de Lugt, Dunya Steyns. All collaborational works with the theme ‘Remote Control’. We doubled our edition to a staggering one-thousand. Volunteers to hand number these please e-mail us. Veenman publishers is going to distibute Stereo internationally.

We will hold small presentations all over. Please keep an eye on the news for exact dates and places.

Stereo in Blaadje 02.03.06

Dutch artdirectors magazine ‘blaadje’ recently did an interview with Arjen de Jong about the Stereo publication project. It will be featured in their upcoming issue #3. Blaadje is a magazine about creating magazines. Blaadje is published by Stichting The Black Tiger and appears in an edition of 36.000 direct mailed to advertisers, planners, creatives and everybody else working in magazine land.
ps. we wouldn't mind redesigning their website...

AmRoCon 02.03.06

AmRoCon stands for Amsterdam Rotterdam Connected. We cooked up this idea with Ronald of LFTFLD magazine during the last bookmarket at the Chiellerie (see presentations). The 17th we are going to represent Rotterdam in Amsterdam, the AmRoCon will feature art, poets, music etc from Hollands biggest and finest two cities. We aint no hippies, but in true Stereo style we are getting together. Rotterdammers and Amsterdammers getting along? Next thing you know it will be the Danish and Muslims! unique! come check it out!

friday 17th march at the Chiellerie: Featuring from Rotterdam: Peter de Groot , poet and chief editor of Krakatau / Dutch Dolls Geeske and Nanna / Paintings by Ingrid de Lugt / katipalism by Arjen de Jong & Dunya Steyns / drawings and paintings by Nelleke & Hanneke. We may bring some DJ's as well...

We do not know the person responsible for this, but we fully support this PROP-ART. A useful guide for Rotterdam creatives that want to use INNOVATIVE language and have BORDER CROSSING ideas. Propaganda working both ways, hilarious.

Katipalism 10.01.06

Stereo editors Dunya Steyns and Arjen de Jong work together to create a special Katipalism exhibition for the CBK in Rotterdam, with multiple brandnew Katipalism goodies. Opening is 7 februari, or just check it out if you are in the neighbourhood.

Dif 03.11.05

We know Rotterdam is cool. DIF magazine decided to do some Rotterdam propaganda, featuring Stereo's spiceboys Panc and Arjen (a.o.) Illustrated by the talented mr. Pen, not a stranger to the Stereo publication. They could have invited us for the releaseparty though...

Kiosk 03.11.05

Stereo has been added to the independent publishing archive of Christoph Keller - KIOSK, displayed earlier this year at the Witte de With centre for art in Rotterdam.

Right now, the Kiosk is being deinstalled at the Istanbul Biennial and will travel on to the ICA London, where Liam Gillick has designed a display for the forthcoming presentation of the archive on independent publishing, which will open on the 16th of December.

Fucking Bastards 03.11.05

Website updates all around, but check out the 'Fucking Bastards' at presentations during the Chiellerie alternative bookmarket . A band that is rejected by Worm three times steals my heart any time. A sort of garbage heap meets carnaval at a noise fest...It was just one of a whole series bizarre performances that night...

Nachtpodium 24.10.05

Or watch 'Nachtpodium' online HERE.

Nachtpodium 21.10.05

Watch 'Nachtpodium' this sunday (VPRO). Stereo is featured as part of the Casco 'Publish and be damned' exhibition in Utrecht.

More Stereo #3 stuff 04.07.05

The Stereo#3 kick-off is a fact. The evening of 18 june had a slow start as Rotterdam was struck by a heatwave, but in all it was a great night! Thanx all of you that were there, there are some pictures at ‘presentations’…
The third issue is now also for sale in that other big city in Holland (Amsterdam). Nijhof & Lee Bookstore kindly offered us their window to display Stereo#3 from 10 to 21 june. Our publications are still available there! Back in R’dam the Boijmans museumshop also sells Stereo’s now. If you are there this summer, you should go see the PROJECT ROTTERDAM expo as well, with samples of Rotterdam initiatives like Antistrot, Arie Versluis & Elly Uyttenbroek and Atelier van Lieshout. In the context of the Boijmans exhibition the V!P’s gallery opened the MADE IN ROTTERDAM expo the 2nd of juli. Art by Stereo-cofounder Arjen de Jong and all Stereo exploits were on display. Also a fresh new T-shirt by Ingrid de Lugt was released, this will also be available soon via the website. The new T-shirts are made possible with the generous help of E-quality T-shirt printer.

Finally, Stereo is featured in the dutch art review magazine Metropolis M #3 2005, in an article about independent art magazines and gave us a good review, as did the Nieuwe Revu (we think…), thanx.

People who were there last year will tell you, it's going to be good!... more info on this later. If you want to be kept up to date with our exhibitions and presentations join our newsletter e-mail (click above).
